DISCLOSURE
Disclosure-Please be Aware!
This is not an easy internship. The hours can be long. The work is hard and the pace is sometimes grueling but we do try to take into consideration everyones needs.
You will be asked to step out of your comfort zone by reviewing cases, rendering hard opinions, presenting your findings, interviewing with the attorney(s) and meeting real life deadlines. If you are not willing to do so or are not willing to do what it takes to get the case done then please do not come. This internship is for the serious LNC who is determined to be successful in this business despite the odds.
The internship hours are from 9:00 AM until 5:00 most days, Monday through Friday, sometimes longer depending on case deadlines such as running statute of limitations, depositions, mediation or trial deadlines.
We make every attempt to take ample time for breaks, lunch and dinner, but this is real life LNC practice. Occasionally lunch with be late or on the go. If you have special health needs please let us know and we will be happy to make the appropriate accommodations. The longer internships may spill over onto a weekend. Deadlines may require interns to work on Saturday. We do not work on Sunday.
Internship hours may be longer for two reasons:
1) In order to meet deadlines and
2) to make the most of our short time together (during the internship some interns desire a longer work schedule).
If the length of time is an issue please let me know and we will work around those special needs.
I warn you, we are out on a farm, far from most of our attorneys and law firms. This means: there will be times when driving 1 to 2 hours in order to get to our attorney conference is a necessity and an earnest part of what we do. Please know ahead of time that this is a very real part of the many challenges one is required to overcome in order to be Successful.
Also, please be aware that you are not doing our work for us as an intern. In most cases we have already done the work or are doing it at the same time we are teaching you and offering you an opportunity to review the case. After 23 years of LNC practice we would never provide our attorneys the work of new interns.
If you want to learn hands-on what it is really like to practice as an independent LNC, then you are Most Welcome to attend our Legal Nurse Consutling Internship!
We offer you the opportunity to live the experience, implement your newly learned skills and profit from your knowledge.
We sincerely and eagerly look forward to working with you in the very near future!
